These are a series of memories of a childhood in Capay Valley by Ernie Lehman, the son of the owners of Ike and Kay’s Tavern in the tiny historic town of Capay—population 50!—in the 1950s through the early 1970s.
Ernie came to town as a very young lad and fell in love with the freedoms afforded a boy whose busy parents owned and ran the popular tavern near Cache Creek and its iconic bridge, great for jumping from and a 2 room schoolhouse.
All surrounded by ranches and farms and irrigation canals that led to nearby towns and friends.
